Overview

Based on his hit YouTube series, BBC AMERICA’s Chris Harris on Cars offers Top Gear fans more time with breakout star and motoring journalist Chris Harris as he takes audiences on a ride across seven episodes throughout July and August.  Premiering Monday, July 11, 9/8c, Chris gets behind the wheel to experiment and explore with the newest, fastest and coolest cars on the road.

Sarah Barnett, President of BBC AMERICA, stated, “Chris Harris on Cars is mischievous, insightful and downright entertaining; we think BBCA viewers will love it.”

Chris Harris stated, “If wanton tire destruction, powerslides and continuous drooling over the world’s fastest and most expensive road racers like the Porsche 911 GT3RS or the Aston Martin GT12 is your thing – you could do considerably worse than watch me put them through their respective paces on track and road on BBC America.”

Chris Harris on Cars puts viewers behind the wheel of the best machinery on sale, and takes them into the technical complexities of these stunning vehicles. Profiling some of the most exciting cars on the planet and testing them on road and track, the series will cover cars such as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, McLaren 650S, Aston Martin GT12, Ferrari 458 GT, Ferrari 458 Spider, among many others.

Launched on YouTube in 2014, Chris Harris on Cars has amassed over a quarter of a million subscribers and the content has been viewed over 20 million times. Chris began his career in motoring journalism at UK-based Autocar magazine, becoming their official road-test editor. He launched his website dedicated to fast cars in 2008, later joined Evo magazine and then became a member of the Pistonheads.com team, as well as a regular feature contributor on YouTube’s DRIVE channel.

The series is distributed by BBC Worldwide.

In the latest season of Top Gear, Chris joined fellow hosts Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc, Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Rory Reid and The Stig as they drove over 7500 miles, undertook both on and off road challenges, tested the very latest cars and filmed in nine countries across four continents.

Episode Guide

Episode One

Chris Harris on Cars is the home of fast cars and wanton tyre destruction.  In its premiere episode, Chris pits two of the fastest and most expensive road racers – the Porsche 911 GT3RS and the Aston Martin GT12 (accompanied by their massive rear wings) – on both road and track up against the stunning supercar, the McLaren 650S…high speeds and smokin’ powerslides ensue. He then swaps big wings for big muscle – testing out the all-new Ford Mustang.

Episode Two

The second instalment of this series takes Chris to Italy where he’s introduced to the new Ferrari 488 GTB by test driver Raffaele de Simone on the Fiorano track. Chris is then let loose in the 488 not only on the track, but also on the winding roads of the Maranello hills. Chris also drives one of the rarest, and most valuable, early road-race Ferrari’s in the world – the 1950’s Ferrari 212.

Episode Three

Chris first puts the new McLaren 570S through its paces on track at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, and then on the surrounding twisting Portuguese roads. Chris also drives the incredibly rare, particularly valuable and very yellow Bugatti EB110 SS in the UK.

Episode Four

Chris takes the V8 Mercedes-AMG GT S to one of his favorite tracks in the US (located in Laguna Seca, California) to see if it’s a genuine rival to the Porsche 911. He then reveals that, although, going fast and sideways is his day-job, trundling along in his own classic Citroen 2CV puts just as much of a smile on his face.  Finally, normal service is resumed in spectacular fashion in a special gravel rally-spec Porsche 911.

Episode Five

Chris tests the newly turbocharged BMW M3 at the Portimao in Portugal, before taking its V8-powered rival, the Lexus RC F, around the Monticello Circuit in New York. Then, back in sunny Portimao, Chris also tests the much sought-after Porsche Cayman GT4.

Episode Six

Chris is in Portugal to road test the all-new Mercedes-AMG C63…but with it losing its atmospheric 6.2-litre V8 for a smaller-capacity turbo motor, can it be as much fun as before? Chris then ventures to Tuscany, Italy to drive the Ferrari California T, finding out if the Prancing Horse’s most usable car still offers up big thrills.

Episode Seven

In the season finale of Chris Harris on Cars, Chris heads to Portimao Circuit in Portugal to test the ‘holy trinity’ of hypercars: The McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. Expect blistering lap times and lots of sliding around before the ultimate track-battle, where Chris races the cars against each other with the help of special guests Tiff Needell and Marino Franchitti.
