New York – July 16, 2015 – Announced today, BBC AMERICA’s Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany earned her first Primetime Emmy Award® nomination and the first nomination for the channel’s original series. Tatiana Maslany’s complex multi-character performance as ten different clones to date also earned her two Critics’ Choice Awards, a Golden Globe® and Screen Actors Guild nomination, a Television Critics Association Award and a Young Hollywood Award. Orphan Black has also earned a Peabody Award.

“We’re over the moon that Tatiana’s ground breaking work as no less than seven characters in this unique show has been rewarded with an Emmy nomination” says Sarah Barnett, President and General Manager, BBC AMERICA. “The creative and technical demands of Orphan Black are immense, yet Tatiana manages to craft each character with a depth, nuance and humanity rarely found in one performance, let alone seven!”

Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC AMERICA and Bell Media’s SPACE. The original drama is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier of Temple Street Productions. The international hit series is distributed by BBC Worldwide and can be seen in more than 170 countries.

About Orphan Black

Sarah hoped that cleaning out a dead woman’s bank account would solve all her problems. Instead, they multiplied at an unnerving rate and revealed she is not one-of-a-kind. Smart, sexy and pulsating with suspense – BBC AMERICA’s original series, Orphan Black, features breakout star Tatiana Maslany (Woman in Gold, Parks and Recreation). In season three, she portrayed seven clones, including Sarah, an outsider and orphan at the center of the clone mystery, Beth, a cop who committed suicide, Alison, an unorthodox housewife, Cosima, a cosmic-thinking scientist, Helena, a reformed murderer, Rachel, a professional and ruthless businesswoman and Krystal, a ditzy nail technician. To date, Maslany has also played trans clone Tony, Russian clone Katja and dying clone Jennifer – for a total of 10 clones. The third season of Orphan Black plunged the clone sisterhood into unexpected territory with the realization that they were not alone; a new line of militaristic male clones were revealed, raising even more questions and consequences for Sarah and her sisters. The Peabody Award-winning drama (co-created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett) explored the theme of ‘Family’ and how far one would go to protect them.
