“Wow thank you to the HFPA, who have always been so amazingly supportive of me throughout my career,” comments Luther star Idris Elba. “I’m so excited, in particular, to be recognized for both Luther and Beasts of No Nation.  For Luther, what better way to celebrate the end of a great run than with this stellar acknowledgement.  As for Beasts, I can only hope this attention will get more people to see the brilliance of all that is Cary Fukunaga and my extraordinary co-star Abraham Attah.  I share in this exciting moment with everyone who poured their hearts into these projects and for who I could not have done this without.”

“I couldn’t be happier to see Idris recognized for the extraordinary role that he’s truly made iconic,” said Sarah Barnett, President and General Manager, BBC AMERICA.  “His star quality and massive talent has had a transcendent effect on the detective series and we can’t wait for viewers to watch the fourth installment this month.”

Idris Elba has garnered both Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominations for his role as DCI John Luther, with a Golden Globe® win in 2012.  He was also honored at the 45th NAACP Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special.

About Luther

Written and created by Emmy®-nominated writer Neil Cross and directed by Sam Miller, Golden Globe® winner Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Star Trek Beyond) returns to his iconic role as a self-destructive near-genius detective on the edge of law enforcement.  Detective Chief Inspector John Luther (Elba) will learn the hard way; he may never be able to walk away from capturing the tormented psychopaths that lurk the streets of London. His attempt to leave the darker side of humanity behind for a chance at a “normal” life is quickly thwarted when he’s drawn into a terrifyingly complex case. A cannibalistic serial killer delivers a devastating blow that not only pulls him out of seclusion but pushes him closer to the edge than he’s ever been.

Luther will be available on Video on Demand and can be purchased on iTunesAmazonGoogle PlayXbox LiveVUDU, and Sony PSN or on Netflix.  It will also be available January 5, 2016 on Blu-ray and DVD.
